In 2006, after the FIFA World Cup, Ronaldo was found involved in an incident where Wayne Rooney (Club teammate) was sent off. Any how Cristiano Ronaldo performance in 2006-07 Season had been good. The critical situation led to CR7 for a transfer. Ronaldo also said, I think I should get out to Manchester United. CR7 said that circumstances were not right to keep playing in Manchester United. Ronaldo further said that in two or three days he would decide where to go. He was too much disappointed because chief executive and coach had not come out in his defense. Manchester united released a statement in which they reminded Cristiano Ronaldo that he had recently signed a contract until 2010 and the club was expecting him to honor the contract. Club was not willing to listen any offer for Cristinao Ronaldo. Due to Club’s response, Rooney and Ronaldo both immediately denied any rift.

CR7 scored on the opening day of the season in a 5-1 win against Fulham, in the first game of the season. Although Ronaldo was booed throughout the season but his performance earned fame for Ferguson. The season 2006-07 proved to be the breakout year for Ronaldo. Ronaldo broke twenty goal barriers for the first time. He picked up his first league title with M.U. Meulensteen coached Ronaldo in moves to make him more unpredictable and dangerous footballer. The coach also trained him to work better with his team mates. He trained the team not to wait for a beautiful goal which Ronaldo famous for. He persuaded them to make ugly goal in spite of waiting. During a trip to Ewood Park in November he received standing ovation from a section Blackburn Rovers supporters.

CR7 received consecutive Barclays Player of the month honors in November and December 2006. He became only the third player in Premier League history to do so after Dennis Bergkamp and Robbie Fowler. At the end of December, Ronaldo’s form was epotimised with three successive braces. The first match came in 3-0 victory over Aston Villa. The second match came in 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic and third brace came on 30 Dec. in a 3-0 victory against Reading.

Ronaldo scored a dramatic late winner against Fulham on February 24, 2007 which put Manchester United 9 points clear at the top of the league table. During Quarter final, in the 2006-07 FA CUP, he scored crucial goals against middlesbrough. On 10 March, Ronaldo scored the equalizer from the penalty spot which ensured 2-2 draw. Ronaldo scored a penalty in the replay nine days later after he was fouled by Jonathan Woodgate.

Ronaldo’s performance helped United reach the semi-final of the Champions League on 10 April. He scored his first two Champions League goals in a 7-1 victory against Roma.

United reached the FA Cup Final on 14 April due to his tremendous performance. CR7 scored four minutes into Manchester United Champions League semi-final against Milan as United won the first leg 3-2 on 24 April. He scored his 50th United goal against Manchester City in a 1-0 victory on 5 May.

In March 2007, Real Madrid were willing to pay an extraordinary amount of €80 million (£54 million) for Ronaldo but Cristiano Ronaldo rejected this offer and said that he was happy at the club (Manchester United). He signed the extension and received £31 million only from Manchester United.

He also amassed a host of personal awards for the season. Ronaldo won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards. Ronaldo completed the treble by winning the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year in April. CR7 also won the FWA Footballer of the Year. He became the first player to win all four main PFA and FWA awards.
