Cristiano Ronaldo as philanthropist earned huge fame.The Television footage of the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami in the year 2004 showed a youngest boy Martunis (8 year old) survivor wearing a no.7 Portuguese football shirt. He was stranded for nineteen days after his family was killed. When Cristiano Ronaldo came to know, he visited Aceh, Indonesia. He went there to raise funds for rehabilitation and reconstruction. After receiving undisclosed damages from a libel case against a newspaper “The Sun” in the year 2008, he donated the damages to a charity in Madeira.  Cristiano Ronaldo donated £100,000 to the hospital that saved his mother’s life in Madeira in 2009. His mother had suffered from cancer. He donated the money to hospital so that they could build a cancer centre on the island. CR7 pledged to play in a charity match in Madeira in support of the victims of the 2010 Madeira flood. The match was played between the FC Porto and Primeira Liga. A nine year old Canarian boy who was apparently suffering from terminal cancer was financially supported by Ronaldo and his agent.

Cristiano Sold the golden boot he had won in 2011 for €1.5 million in November 2005. He gave the money to funds schools for children in Gaza. CR7 also joined FIFA’s ’11 for Health program. He joined the program to raise awareness amongst kids of how to steer clear of conditions including obesity, HIV, malaria and drug addiction in December 2012.

Cristiano Ronaldo became new Global Artist Ambassador of “Save the Children”, in January 2013. This program was to fight child hunger and obesity. He agreed to be the ambassador for the Mangrove Care Forum in Indonesia in March. It was an organization aiming to raise awareness of mangrove conservation. Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in FIFA’s 11 against Ebola campaign with a selection of best football players around the globe in November 2014. The FIFA’s campaign was done in conjunction with the Confederation of African Football and health experts. The eleven players were holding up eleven messages to raise awareness of the disease and ways to combat it. Now a days Ronaldo as a philanthropist renowned in all over the world
